I am trying out a demo version of Wii Transfer. My network is on 192.168.1.*. My Wii is on this network, and can access the internet. My iMac is on this network, and can access the internet and other network resources like a printer and a hard drive. My laptop can access everything too, and the same goes for my iPod Touch and occasional guests who use my network with their devices.

For some reason, Wii Transfer wants me to use 10.0.1.* as my network range. I don't want that. It cost me much time to set everything up, so I'd rather change Wii Transfer to use 192.168.1.* too. However, this seems not to be possible. The 'change' button that the documentation promises, doesn't show. How can I change the network range of Wii Transfer?

Hi,
I am running 10.5.8 on a mac (ppc) and no firewall is enabled. My Wii will connect to my registered bookmark page (although no "Wii" image shows up in the top left corner) and my mac connects to the Wii Transfer url. However, when I click on "movies" on the Wii, it gives me the error that the address is unavailable. My mac is running on ethernet and Wii (obviously) wireless...I see no "change" option for the url in the Wii sharing pane. What am I doing wrong? I see my converted movies on my mac...
Thanks in advance.

I keep forgetting to set the privacy settings to 'anyone' after uploading to vimeo from Clipstart. Would be great if I could set the privacy setting I want in the account prefpane for the vimeo account in Clipstart and then all videos get uploaded with that setting.

For quite some time now Clipstart hasn't been loading any thumbnails for me. The videos play fine and everything, just no thumbnails. Here's a screenshot: http://rawk.it/s/Clipstart-20100624-085455.png

All of those are from my iPhone. It previously was creating thumbnails for everything. Not sure when it stopped working.

Oooh, I started clicking around some more and found that when I click on a tag listing it seems to load the thumbnail which is then present when I go back to imported=today. I spend almost all my time in imported=today (I import and then upload what I want same day, rarely go back and look). So I guess the issue is thumbnails aren't created for videos that show up while importing in imported=today? Wasn't a huge issue to begin with, but now it's even less an issue :) Still would be nice to have that work as they're imported so I don't have to leave imported=today. Thanks!

I'm about to wipe my primary drive and do a clean install of the operating system. I have the Clipstart folder with all my videos on a secondary hard drive. After I have the OS reinstalled, I'll reinstall Clipstart. What should I know about reinstalling clipstart and setting the preferences in order to have Clipstart recognize my library and start where I left off? I don't mind losing my tags, but I don't want to have to import all the videos into a new library.

I read an article about this app in MacWorld and they gave it very good reviews. I have a Flip, digital camera and soon the new iPhone and would like to organize my videos better. Right now they are just getting lost in iPhoto. I have some questions...

1. So do I just not select the videos when syncing my camera with iPhoto? Then Sync the camera again to Clipstart?
2. How to I pull all my video out of iPhoto and move to your app?
3. Just so I can learn more about your app, how is it better then FlipShare?
4. If I want to copy a movie to my iPad will your app help with this somehow?

Also shows the movie at a very small size, doesn't fit in the TV window.

Hi,
I tried adding TV Shows to the Movies pane, but I get an error that says: Movie Conversion Failed. The Errors show "Incorrect frame size".

The whole process of trying to add TV Shows is very elusive anyway, there's no tab that says "TV" and there's no way to add that location to the settings. So I had t actually Search my harddrive and find a few shows I purchased, then tried to Drag it to the Movies pane. TV shows are the same file extension as movies (.m4v) so I don't understand why they won't work.

Do TV Shows work in the beta version?

Thanks~

I am trying out ClipStart and I really like it overall. My only concern is that the tags are not readable by tools like Leap. Do you have any plans for adding OpenMeta support or in any other way embedding the tags in the files themselves?

i checked it out for a few hours.
i am looking for a aperture/iphoto/itunes app for videos

I am a character Animator so i have a huge video collection and i have to get it organized.
so clipstart looks like its made for that.

here is a rundown of pros and especially cons

-does not batch convert video files (some vids are huge and need to be converted ideally sorensen3 since h264 is too processing intense on playback/scrubbing)
-no different views showing me details for every video and letting me reorder accordingly (file size, resolution, bitrate, date, and so on and so on)
-would be great if the video would show its contents when moving over the thumbnail (even if its just a gif or something
-searching for duplicates would help
-no basic editing like trimming and rotating
-renames the original video file into something like 05.mov
+keeps all the videos in one place like itunes or iphoto
+does not hide the folder structure with the vid files like aperture (resulting in a 11 gig file)
+tagging and tag searching
-no poster frames (the first image might not clearly show what its about)

more to come
biggest issue right now:
-no batch converting (ideally sorensen3 or via quicktime pro)
-no simple editing for the files in the library (trim/rotate/crop/seperate/merge)
-no poster frame

to summarize
i still havent found what i am looking for in terms of a video organization tool
but clipstart is going the right way - but its not there yet - unfortunately

Hi Manton,

I've bought and purchased clipstart, but it's unable to import videos directly from my iPhone 3GS or my Nikon D90. The Import From Folder stays as Import From Folder, and the Import from Camera... option is greyed out.

I hope this can get fixed soon.

A suggestion for an enhancement is to allow batch adding of tags. Like, select 20 pictures and type "baby" or something.

I have a sony HDR-XR520V camcorder, and have been looking (diligenlty) for a way to organize the slew of home videos. I've been looking at ClipWrap as a quick way to convert or rewrap the MTS files from the camera. Seems to work for FCP and Quicktime, but I jsut did a test with Clipstart, and clipstart doesn't seem to recognize the file as a movie.

Any Suggestions? I can post a movie that is an .mts from the camera and the same movie processed through Clipwrap for you to play with if you want.

I hate iMovie with its bloated interface and slow performance. I am a daily FCP user. It looks like your software has a lot of potential for what I am looking for in being able to easily and quickly organzie the thousands of video files I will be creating int he future.

Sorry to be monopolizing the forum, but I'm not sure if I'm crazy. It seems like Clipstart used to rename the movie file in Finder whenever I would rename the movie in Clipstart, but that has stopped happening. Maybe since the last update.

A little info:

I've always used "keep references to movies."

I use Image Capture to import movies from my Flip into the folder I want, and then I do an "Import from Folder" in Clipstart, and choose my main movie folder. Clipstart will import only the new movies.
