Hi everyone,
I'm wrapping up the 1.2.4 release of Clipstart and wanted to open up the beta to anyone who has a chance to try it. This is mostly a bug fix maintenance release, but there are some significant under-the-hood improvements to importing and duplicate checking.
As with any beta software, please make sure you have backups before using it. Once you update to 1.2.4, do not make changes to your existing library in a previous version of Clipstart, as the library database file format (Videos.db) has been updated.

Changes:
* Improved default folder and file names when importing to use tag name and video number for that day, without A/B/C-style set folders from previous versions of Clipstart.
* Improved duplicates check to allow keeping or ignoring duplicates with timeline previews, more consistent support across all import types including from a folder, and never delete ignored duplicates from a camera.
* Added support for importing from more digital still cameras.
* Moved timeline temporary thumbnails to sub-folders in Library/Cache.
* Fixed date search being off by one day, added better support for international formats, and switched to YYYY-MM-DD as the preferred format.
* Fixed main view to not scroll thumbnails when resizing the window.
* Fixed renaming a video stored by reference or not copied yet from actually renaming the original file.
* Fixed escape and return keys for buttons in change date dialog.
* Fixed right-click contextual menu on unselected videos.
* Fixed accidentally showing screencast intro screen again when last library can't be found.
* Updated help to describe web export feature.
More on how importing now works:
Previous versions tried to preserve the original filename and put imported video files in letter-named folders organized by date. This led to folder paths like 2009/12/20/A/VID0001.AVI. It was only after using Clipstart for months that I realized this was ugly, and there was very little reason to preserve the original filename since it never carries meaning from a camera.
Clipstart 1.2.4 now puts video files directly in the year/month/day folders, and if a tag is specified on import will also use that. So a new example path might be 2009/12/20/christmas_001.avi. The Videos.db database file has been updated to keep track of the original camera filename, which is used for fast duplicate checking. Renaming a video in Clipstart will also rename in the file system.
