Rename movie in Clipstart renames actual file?

Sorry to be monopolizing the forum, but I'm not sure if I'm crazy. It seems like Clipstart used to rename the movie file in Finder whenever I would rename the movie in Clipstart, but that has stopped happening. Maybe since the last update.

    A little info:

I've always used "keep references to movies."

I use Image Capture to import movies from my Flip into the folder I want, and then I do an "Import from Folder" in Clipstart, and choose my main movie folder. Clipstart will import only the new movies.

    Thanks.

You're right, this did change in the latest update (1.2.4). I considered it a bug that renaming inside Clipstart also changed the file if you were using the "keep references" option, so now it only renames if you've told Clipstart to manage the file locations for you. If you disagree with this change or would like a preference for it, let me know.

Also note that if you rename files in the Finder, Clipstart should update its reference to the file so nothing breaks.

Thanks for your continued feedback. Some people prefer email over the forums, but I'm happy to get the feedback either way.

Ah, I see how that would make sense. I just prefer to kind of dump all my videos in my video folder and then browse, name, tag, etc. through Clipstart. It really works great for that. I can't believe I was managing my clips in iPhoto for so long.

Thanks for the response. I really appreciate it. Maybe someone else will read this and save you from repeating yourself.

You know, I found Clipstart through an old Daring Fireball mention, but I only recently noticed that you also live in Austin. Small world.

    Thanks again.

    Small world indeed! That's great.

And thanks for the extra details about how you're using the app.

By the way, I did add a preference for this in Clipstart 1.3 (released yesterday), so even if you don't want Clipstart to manage your library you can still set it to rename files for you.
