    Hi everyone,

There have been a number of bug fixes since the last release of Wii Transfer (2.6.1) that I want to provide to customers until the next bug fix is officially ready. If you are interested in trying the latest beta, you can always download it here:

    http://www.riverfold.com/software/wiitransfer/downloads/Latest.zip

In particular, several problems with the Mii feature have been fixed. I strongly recommend this update if you've experienced any errors or Miis not copying successfully. There is also a new implementation of the picture slideshow feature to work around memory limits on the Wii (the only catch is that the new version is only activated for slideshows without background music set). Plus a whole bunch of smaller improvements.

As always, please email support if you have any questions or run into problems. Thanks!

First of all I am a new tester - actually brand new. I started out testing v2.6 on my macbook Air but I had trouble downloading the Miis - so I registered as beta Tester and tried 2.6.2b7 and I have still trouble loading my Miis on the macbook Air. All I get is Error try again. After about 4 times pressing 1/2 I gave up. Maybe there is something I am doing wrong...

Hi jwolff, thanks for trying the beta. I'm sorry to hear it's still not working.

I doubt you are doing anything wrong, but there are a few things that can interfere with getting the remote to sync correctly to your Mac. The first is to make sure to turn off your Nintendo Wii, so that it doesn't try to connect to that. I've also heard that the "Require pairing" checkbox in System Preferences under Bluetooth Sharing may cause a problem. If you have that enabled, try changing it temporarily.

There are more troubleshooting tips in the Wii Transfer Help. If it's still not working, please email support@riverfold.com and I'll do my best to solve it.

It's so lame that this program is $19. All I want to do is download 1 Mii to my computer for my sister's birthday party. Mii Transfer is free and transfers Miis, but only in .mii format. Wii Transfer transfers Miis (in JPEG format!), but alas, it costs $19. You should develop a program with which you can download 1 Mii a week, unless you pay. Because paying $19 for one Mii just isn't worth it.

Sorry to hear you don't feel that $19 is worth it. I considered allowing something like your suggestion of 1 free Mii, but I hope that most customers feel that the Mii copying plus all the other major features in the product make it a good value. I have talked to the developer of Mii Transfer and I know he would have liked to offer Mii rendering too, but it's not something that comes easily. It took me about a year from having the idea to being able to deliver the Mii feature, and to my knowledge it's still the only solution of its kind on any platform.

I understand that not everyone has extra cash to spend on software, though, which is why I offer free licenses to anyone who blogs about or reviews the product on their web site. Email support if you are interested.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for your response. My post came out of the sheer frustration with Nintendo, and their shutting down of MiiEditor. I personally love your product, and if I would ever use the Music and Movies feature, I would definitely buy this product. I had just spent 3 days straight looking for a program that I can transfer my sister's Mii with, and everything that worked previously was shut down by Nintendo. Wii Transfer is very flawless. I had no trouble connecting my Wiimote (I never had to restart Wii Transfer to get it to connect to my Wiimote properly). It's a great program, and very easy to use. I should have stated more obviously in my last post that for my wanting of ONE Mii, this program isn't worth it, but if I, or any of my friends for that matter, was planning on transferring many Miis and/or using the music and movies feature, I would highly recommend it. For this being one of the only solutions to many people's woes, it's a darn good application. I apologize for my onslaught of my manifestation of frustration. And already today, I have recommended Wii Transfer to 3 of my friends who were looking for the features that you have. Once again, I apologize and wish you Godspeed for future developments.

OK...I just bought this and got the music working perfectly. Awesome! Thanks! Perfect for the living room stereo setup.

My problem is on the movie side. I have tried everything in the help file. Every single time (no matter what file I try) I drag and drop an .avi file to the Wii Transfer Movie section to prepare for streaming, it starts going like its converting it, then it stops and comes back with an error message "Movie conversion failed". I have even tried converting these files myself in Toast to .mov & .mp4. Still won't work. Any suggestions?

Hi Marty, thanks for reporting the problem. This sounds like a new bug introduced in 2.6.2 that prevented some movie types from working. I have a beta ready with a fix, if you'd like to try it:

    http://www.riverfold.com/software/wiitransfer/downloads/Latest.zip

Please let me know if it's still failing.

I'm glad to hear the music is working well.

Hi there...I'm having the same problem as Marty. Since upgrading to 2.6.2, I haven't been able to convert any movies either. I tried your link to the new beta and unfortunately, same thing. It still doesn't work.

Robert, thanks for letting me know. I'm looking into it and will post an update as soon as I know why it broke.

In the meantime if anyone needs to downgrade to 2.6.1 you can download it here: http://www.riverfold.com/software/wiitransfer/downloads/Wii_Transfer_2.6.1.zip

... and then upgrade again when this issue is resolved. (There were a lot of other improvements in 2.6.2, so I don't recommend sticking with the downgraded version indefinitely.)

    Thanks.
