The best way to get familiar with Clipstart is with a quick 2-minute overview screencast. Click watch screencast video to view it on the web.
When you launch Clipstart for the first time, it will prompt for where to store your Clipstart movies database. Optionally you can have Clipstart copy any imported movie files to this location. This can be handy if you want to keep all movies organized in one place, such as your Movies folder or on an external hard drive.
Clipstart searches for .mov, .avi, .mp4, and .m4v files in the Movies and Pictures folders on your hard drive. If it doesn't find all your movies, you can use the Import from Folder command to add additional movies, or simply drag selected movie files or folders from the Finder into the main Clipstart window.
There are two ways to browse movies in Clipstart: by year or search.
Years are shown in a popup menu in the upper-left corner of the main window. Choose a new year to see all the tags and movies for that year. When you tag movies, new tags will be added under this year popup.
