To upload a movie to Flickr, Vimeo, or YouTube, just select a movie in Clipstart and choose the appropriate Upload command from the Movie menu, or click the Upload button. If this is the first time you are using Clipstart with one of those services, you will be prompted to authorize the Clipstart application on the Flickr or Vimeo site. For YouTube, you will be prompted to enter your username and password, which will be saved in the system keychain.

Upload progress can be seen in the Tasks pane of the floating window. Multiple uploads will queue and be processed one at a time. Once an upload finishes, the History pane will be shown. This list shows the most recent 100 movies that have been uploaded, with an arrow button to link directly to the movie page on the web site.

Uploading a movie from the main thumbnails view in Clipstart will upload the original movie file without processing. If you are using Flickr and the movie is longer than 90 seconds, Clipstart will export a new version of the movie with just the first 90 seconds.

See editing for how to upload a trimmed version of your movie.

Clipstart has a default privacy setting that will apply anytime you upload a video. You can change it before or while an upload is in progress from the button in the upper-right corner of the window. After an upload finishes, you will need to use the Flickr or Vimeo web sites to change the privacy for that video. More about the privacy setting.

The privacy levels were patterned after Flickr's settings, and they don't map perfectly to Vimeo. In particular, there's no "family" option on Vimeo, so that option will act the same as friends. For more advanced privacy on Vimeo, such as password protection or specifying a list of allowed users, upload as "Only You" and then use the Vimeo web site to change the setting after upload.
