Wii Transfer 2.5 adds movie streaming

Riverfold Software has released version 2.5 of Wii Transfer, the Mac companion for the Nintendo Wii. The most significant Wii Transfer release to date, version 2.5 introduces movie streaming, bookmark sharing, picture background music, better Wii remote navigation, and more.

"Since we first added music sharing to Wii Transfer, the most common requests were for AAC support and movie streaming, and now both are available in Wii Transfer 2.5," said Manton Reece, founder of Riverfold Software. "Now for just $19 customers can have features similar to the Apple TV on their existing Wii game console." After an awkward pause, he added: "Wait a minute -- why are you calling me at home? How did you get this number?"

First released in December of 2006, shortly after the Nintendo Wii launch, Wii Transfer has grown from a convenient movie conversion tool to a feature-rich media server. Browse iTunes playlists and iPhoto albums on your television, convert your movies to formats the Wii understands, and even automatically manage saved game backups copied to an SD card.

Wii Transfer costs $19 and requires Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger and the Wii's Internet Channel. Version 2.5 is a free upgrade for all registered users. A demo version is available at: http://www.riverfold.com/
